[solved] Break Apart Question

Postby Aisne » Mon May 25, 2015 6:38 pm

I am new to Inkscape but absolutely loving it. I do have a question with regards to converting an image to SVG. Once you have removed your colour layers and need to create the solid image background via the Break Apart function, how do I get the centre of the letter to remain clear/transparent?

Hi

After the break apart select the letter outline plus the triangle in the middle (press and hold shift to select multiple objects), then perform Path - Difference. (Ctrl - )
Good Luck!

Or combine those two back together (Ctrl+K).

By the way, if you want to make this path a fill for the outlines on top, you may better preserve a copy of the character without the stroke converted to path. (Double edges with anti-aliasing can produce unwanted colours.)
