why wont it resize correctly???

ok so ive been using inkscape for a few days and trying to get used to it.

one of my new designs is simply some rectangle shapes :tool_rectangle:

i make a rectangle... then use the button drag thingy to round its edges a little.
then i decided i wanted to make it smaller... so i locked the proportions and dragged the arrow to make it smaller...

but instead of getting the right result... which wold be just a smaller rectangle with curved corners... i got a complete oval
why?
how do i fix it?

When resizing a rectangle you can take 2 approaches, use the Selector tool and arrows that appear like with any other object, or you can use the Rectangle tool and drag the little square that appears in the corner, this option preserves the curve radius.

To control whether the curve radius changes when using the Selector tool you can use the icon on the right side of the toolbar when Selector tool is selected. It's the second of the four icons there.

To get the same rectangle only smaller you have to have that icon enabled, it will scale the corner radius as you scale the rectangle size. You probably have it disabled when you get an oval.

Yup very nice. I think it might look a little better if it was a grey, rather than black. Feel free to post this in the "Show it off" forums.
