How to cut out a object?
How to cut out a object?
Hello, I'm trying to get what's circled in blue separated from the rest. Tried un-grouping, but they're all together. Any ideas? I need to keep it as a vector so I can't put it in gimp. Thanks!

Hi
After un-grouping try; path - break apart -( Ctrl - Shift - K )
Good Luck

Re: How to cut out a object?
Is that really vector?
If it's a raster image, you cannot ungroup it.
If so, it might be embedded.
A way to go is with the get image extension,
another is to copy the right part from the svg codes, decode the base64 part, and save as a png.
If that's not a raster image, it might be on a locked layer.
Other possible reason that may cause that problem, is that it is a pattern given to an object.
This happens often if you opened a pdf file.
If so, convert pattern to path -and unclip the objects.
These are the poblems that could occour.
When all is selected, look at the status bar and check what is the object.
Another way that might be helpful, is to change the view mode to outlines only.

Re: How to cut out a object?
It's in PDF format, I had to convert it from eps.

Hi.
If you click on any of the red parts - what's in the status field? (bottom of Inkscape window)
Like in your screendump - "Path (10 nodes) in layer CR125-250 02-13 ... "

Maybe try control click as well because this selects objects even if they are in groups which is frequently the case with PDFs not made in Inkscape....
Your mind is what you think it is.
