Invisible object effect inclip and mask

Postby nithhogg » Sat Nov 16, 2013 5:06 pm

Hi

I am running Inkscape 0.48 on windows 7.

I have recently encountered the problem but cannot connect it with any software activity on this machine.

I apply a bounding object to a background, and select both. I make sure the bounding object is on top of the background.
When I Clip/Set or Mask/Set the objects are joined - the objects merge and appear grouped - but are invisible.

*The problem does NOT occur using simple objects - but does occur using transparent background imported .png objects as the bounding object/clipping path.

I understand there have been similar issues with this occurring but have not come across any fixes yet.
I have tried, using a new file - different images to ensure they aren't corrupt.

Any object can mask, but not clip...

"Any path, regular shape, or regular text object can be used as a clipping path."

So imported bitmaps aren't likely to work as clips and will totally blank the object to be clipped.

Masking works with bitmaps, but as with other objects, based on luminance values:

Feel free to upload an example...

Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/
