Filled dots in original PDF not filled when opened in Inkscape

Postby joel452 » Sun Nov 22, 2015 3:12 am

I've opened a PDF fillable form in Inkscape (in order to make the data filled in the original PDF appear, choose "import via Poppler" in the import dialog). (The original PDF form has dots to indicate AM or PM. Choosing the dot and pressing the space key alternately fills or un-fills the dot).

When I open the PDF in inkscape the filled dots appear as unfilled rectangles. Is there a way to make the filled dots of the original PDF appear as filled dots (or rectangles) in the opened .svg? (It would be far too time consuming to go and cover over each dot with a filled circle.) I am running Windows 8.1 and using Inkscape 0.91

Do you have the svg file available? Or you can look for yourself in the XML editor:

- select a rectangle that is 'checked' in the original, check its attributes in the XML editor (Ctrl+Shift+X).
- compare these to the attributes of an 'unchecked' rectangle
- if there is a difference between the attributes of a checked and an unchecked rectangle, you can use the Search dialog (Ctrl+Shift+F) to find all rectangles that do have that attribute set differently. Then you can just fill them all (if you don't care that it's now rectangles instead of dots).

- if there is no difference, the information was lost on import.
Something doesn't work? - Keeping an eye on the status bar can save you a lot of time!
