my vistablet just quite working with inkscape.
i can move the mouse around, but i cant paint, draw, select, etc..
the tablet works fine with other software, and on the desktop.
aaagghhh!
it was all working great, then.....

Well, if it was working normally, then stopped suddenly, I would suggest reinstalling Inkscape, as well as tablet (if it has software, I'm not familiar with tablets). If that doesn't help, here is a list of the many already existing topics about using tablets with Inkscape. You should be able to find the answer somewhere in these topics.

AFAIU this is unlikely to help with regard to possible issues on Inkscape's side: the settings for extended input devices in Inkscape are stored in the preferences file (%APPDATA%\Inkscape\preferences.xml) and are not reset when reinstalling Inkscape. If the tablet worked and suddenly stopped, possibly the settings had been changed?

One could try to either

1. reset Inkscape's preferences (quit Inkscape, rename or (re-)move the preferences file), relaunch Inkscape and reconfigure the tablet (menu 'File > Input Devices…')
2. check the 'Input Device' settings directly without resetting the preferences to default values
3. manually edit the preferences file as described by druban and confirmed by other users in the topic "Re: Tablet not working in recent dev builds"
