Cannot edit SVG file

Postby balad » Sat Jan 19, 2013 6:44 am

Hi,

I am unfamiliar with Inkscape and new on this forum. The svg file on which I was working stopped abruptly to be editable. No feature can be seized or created. I re-installed Inkscape, no difference. "Unlock all" (déverrouiller tout) made no difference. How can I make this file editable again ?
Thanks !

Welcome to InkscapeForum!

Unlock All only unlocks objects. But maybe you accientally locked a layer? It would be a lot easier to accidentally lock a layer, than it would be to accidentally lock an object.

If that's not it, can you tell us how large is the file? If it has become so large as to challenge your system's RAM (memory) it may just be taking a long time for Inkscape to do whatever it is you've clicked. Just for a ballpark estimate, a 1 mb file can challenge a 2 gb RAM system.

If the file size vs RAM doesn't seem to be the problem, can you provide the SVG file for us? You can either attach it to a message or upload wherever you want, and give us the link :D

It is a 3.2 Mbytes files but the problem was elsewhere. I did not work with layers, but the default one on which I worked was inadvertantly locked. Thanks for pointing out the problem.
