Hello,

This is my first message and my first try of Inkscape.

I am wondering about the small but visible visual misalignment between the grid and the rulers. In the following image I have my default units (hence the rulers) set to cm and the grid origin is (0,0).


The improper alignment varies with the zoom: in some zooms it looks properly; in others it does not.

I am using Inkscape 0.45 under Ubuntu 7.10.

This is usual, the grid dimensions change depending on how zoomed in you are. I think it's a feature, but have always found it frustrating myself!

It's not exactly a feature, as Danny thought, but it is usual, and not a bug. I posted a problem not too long ago (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=345&p=1925#p1925) I had noticed that a given point would have slightly different coordinates (as seen in the bottom right corner) at different amounts of zoom. I was explained to me that because Inkscape is vector-based, it doesn't really matter that a given point be in exactly the same place at different zooms. They said in the raster type of graphics program, everything depends on a given point having specific coordinates at every zoom. But it's not a factor in vector graphics. I can't really say that I understand that very completely... And maybe I'm not explaining it right, but look the explanationn I was given.

There are some bugs related to this Grid and ruler are not consistent (mm), Rulers don't align with document, and apparently its been fixed on the new development 0.46 version.
