Strange Lines Appearing on Shapes

Postby claytonj » Tue Dec 12, 2017 4:21 am

Hello Forum!

I am experiencing a strange issue. On all of my department's projects, I am seeing these random lines. They are always horizontal and they change every time we export an image. I am not sure what's going on, and I can't find anything online referencing these phantom lines. I have attached the project for your reference.

Can anyone help us?

Hi.

Two guesses:
maybe the images were imported pdf-s made with ai and they had gradient meshes, which now are converted to flat filled objects with the apparent rendering gap issue.
That case supersampling -exporting a larger image and downscaling it outside- can reduce the error.
Or just drop the gradient mesh steps and replace the objects with "no gaps" in between.
(In my humble opinion the shown image wouldn't look much different with proper gradient meshes due to Mach banding of low colour depth.)

Other possible reason behind faulty rendering is transformed filters. Less likely as you cannot add that accidentally in. Removing all related filters/transformations may help that case, or switching to inkscape 0.48 with its previous renderer.

If possible, it could be helpful if you can share an SVG image that shows the issue, and make a screenshot of your export options.
