Good ol' sliders...

Postby Uktrunie » Tue Mar 29, 2016 2:52 pm

So ok, I think I gave 0.91 a fare chance. I still don't like the new "combo-sliders" for opacity, blur and the like.

I seem to remember reading that you could disable that and make it look like it did in 0.48... but I don't seem to be able to find any info on this. So I might have just dreamed about it, which wouldn't be surprising considering I hate the new one. :D

Can anybody help me here? Am I imagining things?

I don't think it can be disabled. I think I added a comment to a bug report "complaint" asking it if could be made optional. Maybe it's already optional in the development version, although I really have no idea. I heard it was created on the request of 1 single person. So much for adding support to feature requests, to get them made sooner

... So it was all just a dream then, there's no way to turn the new ones off...

Thanks for the reply.

I like the new sliders... no need to grab the "handles", just drag anywhere in the slider region right/left. Or, use the spinbox.
Have a nice day.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1

The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

It gets problematic when you want to actually enter a value manually. It's hard to mark text in the number field without causing the slider to jump to 100... especially annoying for blur, as it takes so long to render.

Add yourself to the supporters here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1189846 ;)

I didn't want to encourage you to add noise by commenting the obvious (sorry, I bet you'll hate me for wording it like that ... :/ - but everyone on that long list of developers at the left will now get a mail about this... and they already get probably a hundred mails concerning Inkscape every day) but to add yourself with the 'affects me, too' button at the top.

While that may be less effective, it's probably a nicer way to say that this bug is important. It will affect the 'bug heat' (see little fire icon at the right, the exclamation mark icon explains what it does.).

The workaround they mention with pressing Ctrl+5 right away needs to be tested... Mmh. Toggle display mode doesn't work at all for me... Probably a German keyboard thing again. Oh - works after I set the shortcut anew in the keyboard map. Weird! Yes, it stops the calculation.

Authorities? No bug reports? Esper, I don't understand you... :/

Ctrl+5 works for me now, as described above.

That's when you need to press the new key combo. After that, it should say Ctrl+5 again. Then close the dialog (and hopefully, enjoy).

Instead of 'New accelerator' it should probably better say 'Press keys now'...
