Hello,
I'm trying to duplicate and repeat a curved border. I created my outside box (black), as picture which is fine, but when I duplicate it and use dynamic offset (yellow) the inside edge turns into a right-angle when I need it to still be a curve.
Is there a way to get my curve back? Also, once I've turned a shape into a dynamic offset is there a way to get it back to 'normal', in that once I've resized it with an offset when I select edit by path nodes the handles disappear so I cannot adjust the curve any more - using object to path doesn't work as I can't them simultaneously adjust all four corners toger (sorry for being a noob).
I appreciate if I start from the smaller inside yellow box and duplicate that and work bigger it will work, but it means I've got to do a whole load of calculations to figure out where to place the first entry and the curve ends up wrong, etc. I need to start from the outside and work inwards.
Thanks.
cannot offset curve and keep it a curve
Re: cannot offset curve and keep it a curve
For accurate curves I don't suggest to use path with no fill. If you convert the dynamic offset with yellow to a path you will probably get nodes where you don't want them.
Better to draw the strokes from two separate paths with no outlines but fills. You can then draw the yellow shape accurately from dynamic offsetting one of the black line's edge path.
That way all lines will be parallel.

Thanks, I'll try and figure out what you're saying when I get home
I need about 5 or 6 of these lines though...
