Help masking letters then putting it over another pic please?!
Help masking letters then putting it over another pic please?!
Hi guys. I just got this program. It's great. I'm having a problem. Made a mask of the word birch. I wrote "birch". Gave it an outline drew a box around it and Did the path exclusion. I then slid it over a pic of grass with dark birches so that fills the word and has an outline. Great. Now I want those letters over a pic of white birch paper but when I move it over the pic it still has the white square around it. I tried cropping it. I tried filling the white space with nothing and the grassy pic that fills the letters appears all around. Not the birch paper behind it. I tried writing the word, outlining it then clip set (crop).. it works that way but I lose the outline which I need. Anyone know how to fill letters with a pic, keep an outline and move it over another image? Thank you much. Erik

My first hunch is that the outline will need to be a separate object. But maybe not.
Could you share the SVG file with us? I think I understand what you're trying to do, but don't have time to search out a pictures of trees and bark, to make an example. Using your file would be faster

I'd use a copy of the text to clip one image, then use another copy of the text with just the stroke on top of it for the outline. Group those two. Then you can move that group anywhere on the page... on top of the birch paper for example.
Have a nice day.
