This is the first time i have run into this problem and i have used inkscape for quite a while now.
I have read through some of these forums where people have had the same issue, but cannot figure mine out.

Trying to save my work as a PNG... have tried the export method and the save as method.
one way saves a blank white page, the other way only saves the bottom 1/3 of the image.
I tried to attach the .svg file here but says the file is too large.

you should not post your question and immediately log off
this is not the enigma machine, there are real people on the other side of the screen, who maybe need feedback from you, to solve your problem

never logged off?? been going back and forth checking this and working to see if i could figure it out

File menu > Export PNG is the correct way to do it. Probably you just don't have the proper options set up. When you open the dialog, you need to choose one of the top 4 buttons.

Maybe you had it set to export the Page, but your drawing was only 1/3 inside the page border. Or maybe you had it set for Selection, and only 1/3 of the image was selected. Or maybe you had it set for Custom, from some previous export, but it's not the right size for this one?

Doesn't matter if someone posts a question and then logs off. If they didn't give enough info, they can find out whenever they come back.

Posting a question and logging off before any response is a bad thing for IRC. But in a bb forum, it doesn't matter.

I tried all 4 of those options and could not get it to export from any of them.
I did redo the entire page, as it was an recent project that i just had to make some additions to, and now it worked.
Thanks for the quick response though. Not sure why this time it worked after starting over from the original again.

no need for the rude response from the other person though as I kept this window open and hit refresh every so often to double check.

Hhmm...I'm not sure what the problem might have been. I know sometimes if I'm in a hurry, I just click Export, and forget to set the name and location. Then I can't find the exported image, because I'm not looking in the right place.

I don't know for sure what might have been happening. But I'm glad it's working now

Not sure about the logging off thing either. Oh well. Sometimes life's too short to worry

If it saved only the top portion, I might think it must be a large image. Sometimes on a large image, I'll export, and it looks like it works, but when I open the PNG, I find only the top part. But I don't know about only getting the bottom part....

Unless you were going Export, and then immediately closing the file. But even then, it would likely only get some portion of the top.
