Automatic 2D --> 3D

Postby cubsno1 » Thu Apr 22, 2010 12:29 pm

I need to produce a bunch of little pictures fast, to produce a game for children. The game takes place inside a human body (it's designed to teach healthy eating) so I need a heart, a pair of lungs, etc.

I can make a flat picture of what I need fairly quickly and easily. The kids would respond more to 3-D images, though. Is there a way to quickly and arbitrarily "inflate" a 2D image to a 3D shape? For example, to turn a circle into a sphere, or a heart into a heart-shaped pillow?

Rick

I guess the fastest way is to use Filters, try some of them and tweak the best one if needed.

The other way is to create the highlights and shadows yourself, it helps if you have experience with observing those things and/or having a photo or something to use as a guiding tool.

(After investigating some more) I've seen Teddy and Sketch. These two programs inflate a 2D sketch, but they're a complete program unto themselves. They build things and manipulate things through "gestures" using a stylus. Now that I've figured out how Inkscape works, I'd like to stay with it. (Also, I like how Inkscape works.) I was thinking of a post-processor.
Trying to be clearer about the kind of thing I'm after.
