Hi everybody !
I hope you will understand my question.
I would like to clip a line with a polygon. I do maps, and I have my river network which is bigger than my study area. So I would like to delete rivers which are not included into my rectangle of my study area.
Thanks in advance
CR
clip lines with plolygones
Re: clip lines with plolygones
Group all the object that you want to clip; create your rectangle above the group of objects then do:
Object menu > Clip > Set

Re: clip lines with plolygones
Thank you for this answer. It works well, but I have the feeling, it's not really clipped. It's just hidden, no ? If it's the best I can obtain I will take it. But crop would permit me to decrease the weight of my rivers network. Is it possible to do it ?
Thanks

I'd like to know if there's a way to crop/cut them instead of clip too.

Hi CR and Bucic,
IF everything is paths, you can use Path menu > Intersection. But with a map, it sounds like it may be too complex to easily do the intersection. This article/tutorial covers all the different possible solutions: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6616. But most of the time, Clip is the best choice.

Thank you for this answer. I think I will clip my rivers, it's OK.
Have a nice day !

Re: clip lines with plolygones
Yeah, I already queued that article for reading Thanks! My question was mainly due to annoying selection behavior with clipped objects - selects the clipped object even outside the clipping 'boundary'.
