[solved] Transparent Background

Postby fromoutofthecrowd » Mon Nov 21, 2016 8:00 am

I came over from CS6 Illustrator. When I select NEW I should be able to select a size width and height plus select the transparent background. I get no choice when I open NEW and the resulting page contains a white background which won't work for my purposes. How do I open NEW and get to select the size and select transparent background?

When I click on NEW I see a sudden page load but nano-second and its gone as if rushing past those choices to open the same page-sized template.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Two weeks ago when I did a demo of Inkscape I was given the choice to decide the size and to select transparent background and now not.

Thank in advance... :?:

Hi.

Inkscape loads in the default template svg.
You can set up your document in the properties Shift+Ctrl+D
and there is a way to save it as the default template.
Already discussed somewhere here, although I haven't tried it -you need to save it somewhere in inkscape/share/templates I guess. Others may clarify.

By the way the white rendered for the background is transparent. In 0.92 you will be able to set it to checkerboard instead of a solid colour.
