Hello, everytime i try to copy an image from inkscape to an openoffice.org application, i end up seeing nothing but a page with full of text. As an ex-windows user i came across no problems while working with Adobe Illustrator and Msword. Can anyone please help me?

You should save it as an SVG first, then open your OO.o application (I use Writer in this example) and go to Insert->Picture->From File, then find your SVG and open it. Directly pasting it doesn't work apparently, I imagine you're seeing the SVG source of the Inkscape document.
