Hi there!
I'm pursuing an initiative to introduce Inkscape to the SENA office here in Cartagena de Indias (read "Inkscape promotion in Colombia" at the developers mailing list). The SENA is the national service for training people in trades. The goal is to convince them to try Inkscape and use it as the program of choice for graphic design courses, so I need success stories from everywhere -specially developing countries and Latin America.

Re: Inkscape success stories
Hola.
Saludos!
P.s. (sorry for the reply in spanish. Basically I'm offering him my help since I have a Graphic Design studio and we work with Linux and Free software).

I don't mind people posting in other languages, but because this is an English speaking forum I do ask that an English translation be provided as well so we can all participate. Some of us might get paranoid that you're talking about usGez wrote:P.s. (sorry for the reply in spanish. Re: Inkscape success stories
Hi,
What to say?
I love colors. I live colors. I feel them like as if they are my hairs or hands or sight. They are amazing and they dazzle me a lot.
I am a aspiring artist from Pakistan. Life here is not as easy as it is in first world countries. If you have money, you are good. If you don't then you are poor and law MIGHT not be on your side.
With that, I have always been an inquisitive type. Always asking questions and solving puzzles. At first arguments with my family and friends would end up because they mocked my doubts and thoughts of improving our lives and I felt shame at insulting them as they insulted me.
But being in love with colors, being an artist, I remained pure at heart and that led to very isolated life for me.
There was pain and there were tears, but I knew that honesty and justice are what define and should define, humanity. Money should be an intermediary thing not the aim. But alas most were blinded and I started living a life alone with my computer. I lived in the same house with my family but thats how close they were to me. We would talk even laugh but I always knew that the moment I got close to them and told the truth all this drama of laughter would show its ugly head.
I preferred computers. And now I love them. They have been my best friend for a very long time.
And it was during the start of those lonely years that I met Inkscape. A blogger, James Kendrick of jkOnTheRun.com, mentioned it and since I loved the touch screen tech, I wanted to test it. And at the same time I was a fan of open source software as I myself was not that rich and wanted to promote stuff that could help people like myself.
I was using Macromedia's Flash(which is now Adobe Flash) and after using power hungry Flash I have to admit that I fell in love with the ease of Inkscape right away. It was my first forey into open source vector editor scene and I was completely blown away. I did tried other open source vector editors after enjoying Inkscape but none felt as good as Inkscape.
And over the years, I have been trying to find my style and have tried different things but lately I think I have found my style (http://neoxeekhrobe.deviantart.com/) and I find my love for Inkscape to be very helpful.
So your app has been very helpful and a source of very pleasurable memories for me. I love the name Inkscape(scape) as art was a great scape for me from my loneliness and I thank you and wish you all the best.
Thankyou.
Fahad Fateh
