Hi all,
I would like to point out that by moving the Inkscape Forums to Google Plus, about 1.3 Billion potential users cannot join the discussions anymore. In China, Google Plus cannot be used legally and though they are a bit slow here when it comes to using unstolen software, at some point the quarter will drop and some devs and designers may be interested to join.
Currently teaching SVG for a course in web design and getting some 60 students to spread the word on Inkscape and the use of SVG in HTML5

Re: Google Plus not globally available
We really are? Have the costs of maintaining the forum become too high?
Re: Google Plus not globally available
No, no, we're not moving!! InkscapeForum.com is NOT moving!
I was just being goofy
I think Jelle is referring to this, when he/she? says "Inkscape forum": https://plus.google.com/u/0/108911244660285152681/posts. I guess it's a type of forum, but otherwise I'm not sure what to call it. I think it's the newest evolution of what used to be called Google Groups. I thought it was a new (relatively new) "group" or account, but Jelle seems to think it existed somewhere else before. Whatever or wherever that was, I'm not sure.
I suspect Jelle may be thinking that the Inkscape developers, and others who participate on the organizational level, might see this message here. But I think his/her complaint might better be posted on the mailing list, or maybe IRC channel. I think posting this message in one or both of those places will be seen by more people who have the power to do anything about it, or at least the knowledge to repond to the comments.
Although that said, the Google+ account could have been started by one single motivated user, for all I know!
I don't know this for a fact, but I suspect Google+ is free, and that was probably the primary motive for putting it there. Also possibly because people could only see it on Facebook if they have a FB account. Many people find it surprising how many other people don't have FB accounts. I certainly don't, and don't plan ever to

Motivated is my middle name, thank you
The G+ account is currently controlled by 4 people: Joshua Andler (release manager), Uwe Schoeler (Windows buildmeister), Tavmjon Bah (our W3C SVG working group representative and major contributor) and yours truly who indeed started all this nonsense.
The FB account is controlled by Joshua and, I guess, someone else. I do have an FB account but don't use it all that much, so fat lot I care
In other words, dear Jelle, please don't freak out! Nobody's snatching your dear forum from you, and if you catch someone doing that, lemme know, and I'll give that person a right ding across the ear
