Hi there all,
I want import a black/white pic what i make in GIMP.
It uses Gimp-paths and I want resizing some of them with Inkscape to make the pic better.
However, Inkscape don't like xcf, and potrance was my only option.
The problem is that potrance self doesn't work. I followed the tuto and all that stuff, search here for a solution, but potrance keeps not responding, and 0% CPU eating. I can change every field, select the pic what must be traced 100x times. push Preview and Ok button 2098450249520 times. It doesn't work.
Could someone explain what I do wrong or what is going wrong?
Potrance doesn't work
Re: Potrance doesn't work
Import the image and select it with the tool.
Look at the bottom of the inkscape window, it will tell you the type of object selected. Make sure you are selecting an image (sometimes the imported items are stored in groups, and you have to double click on it)
Then, simply open the Trace Bitmap dialog, and set a Brightness cutoff of 0.9 (or whatever is appropriate for the image), and hit OK.
This should work, if not, then when you hit the OK button in the Trace Bitmap dialog, look at the bottom of the inkscape window and see what it says.

Re: Potrance doesn't work
I haven't used the Trace Bitmap feature very much, and don't understand it in a very effective way. But I've had the problem where I've followed the instructions, but nothing seems to happen when I click OK.
After some investigation, such as I could manage, I found that something actually was happening, but for some reason which is beyond my understanding, the result is displayed underneath my image. So after I do my trace, I have to select my image and move it over, and behold there's my trace!
It seems that depending how you have configured your trace, sometimes it comes out smaller, and therefore concealed by the original. Could this be happening to you?
