Hi,
I'm working on typography with a group of students that want to informally try their personal and each other's creations on the web. We don't have a particular and private server to upload the fonts to, so the @font-face CSS function (as explained here and here) is not actually useful to us. I mean, most of the guys manage contents through not accessible servers (e.g. blogs, hotglue, moodle, etc) and even if we get one as group, it wouldn't be a solution for them, individually, in the future. On the other hand, a system like Google Web Fonts would technically fit the need but, you know... it's not an open project.
There should be a public site to submit fonts to AND embed them from, simply the way people uses youtube. Any idea or work-around solution?
Thanks so much
Regards
Marcelo.
submitting/embedding fonts for free
Re: submitting/embedding fonts for free
I`m not quite sure if I understood your request correctly but you could take a look at these sites - fontdragr or fontsquirrel and hopefully resolve a problem.
Re: submitting/embedding fonts for free
Yep... don't know if I was clear, but at least Fontdragr is exactly what I expected. Font Squirrel looks more like a place to download. Still don't understand if it's possible to embed fonts in one's own blog directly from Squirrel servers without downloading. Whatever, I'll make a try on the sites we use and post the results.
Thanks so much for the quick response.
Best.

Re: submitting/embedding fonts for free
You`re welcome, glad to hear it helps.
I don`t have an account on Fontsquirrel and I didn`t use it on my own, but link which I posted should lead you to the page where they offer code preparation for further usage of your font. I believe you should have an active account, upload the font and than this automated preparation would make font available for use on some other site. I`ve heard about it but never had a chance to go trough it on my own, so please accept this just as my interpretation.
Full sails!
