Hi folks,
I have a problem with exporting drawing to PNG, when I have some objects blurred (and trasparent). When I click Export, the progress window appears a nothing happens then, even on low resolutions (CPU runs on 100% :-/ ). Can anyone help please? It's real emergency. I have a poster, I need to send it to print in pdf and Save to PDF doesn't work either
Thanx a lot
Blur problem
Re: Blur problem
Can you provide us with a copy of the SVG file so we can test it?
Alternatively, if you're using a development build of Inkscape, try switching back to 0.45. If you using 0.45 try switching to the latest development build.

Re: Blur problem
So I found out, that the problem is caused only by blurring. Without blurring, the export goes quite well even with trasparency (but it's still VERY slow on 300 DPI).
The export goes unbelievably slowly with blur efffect on some objects. Rendering of a drawing with 4960x7016 resolution took already 5 hours and it's still half way to go :-/
Btw. is there any way to set DPI when creating a new document? A2 poster with resolution 1488x2104 is real nonsense
In the end I would like to thank developers for creating such amazing application. When it will have panel docking and faster rendering, Adobe and Corel will go to hell
UPDATE: After 8 hours of labor, image is finally exported...but broken. 3 blurred transparent objects weer ignored, 4 were OK

Re: Blur problem
What happens if you export it smaller?
Re: Blur problem
Yeah, I saw this huge performance problem when using excessive blur. My final workaround is to NOT export the PNG from Inkscape. Save the SVG, open with GIMP and save the PNG with GIMP.
I didn't have the patience to wait 8 hours for the export like you and killed it about half hour...

Re: Blur problem
To microUgly: If I export it smaller (90 DPI), it is usually OK (at least last 3 tries were OK)
To nicubunu: Thanx for the tip, it saves A LOT of time
