Hello, everyone. I'm sure this is a total newb post, but I have read the FAQ on inkscape.org and haven't been able to find the solution. I'm running OSX Tiger on a pre-Intel iMac with 512MB ram. I've installed X11 and it's update. When I try to run Inkscape, it just loads "Inkscape" in the menu and no other options. Initially I got a prompt that asked something about how I wanted to display the windows, to which I chose normal/OSX style (or what lead me to think it was). Next time I started it up, got a warning telling me that it may take some time for the fonts to load (I read about this in the faq). Inkscape sat in my dock with "application not responding" for half an hour and no dice.. I didnt think it would take THAT long for fonts to cache so I force quit and restarted the program and just got the same "Inkscape" in my menu with no other options. Even restarting my computer and reinstalling Inkscape did not work. If there's anyone out there that could help I'd be much obliged. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure there are many Mac users on this forum yet. So if nobody gives you an answer I recommend asking at the Inkscape mailing list.

Having the same exact problem, running Mac OS X.4.11, 1.33GHz G4, 2GB RAM, 17" PowerBook.

In the middle of writing a guide for urban planners to use open source technology, would love to know that Inkscape works on the Mac as well as my linux boxen.

***** I'm leaving the above in place to show how it took awhile - the Inkscape window just magically appeared! Funny, it never did that before, maybe it was feeling insulted.

Woudl definitely recomend you take this one to the dev list, the guys that maintain the mac port are on it so your more likely to get someone who knows what their on about reading it

I am Mac Book Pro user and I am running Tiger. I have downloaded the latest Dev vers for Mac OS X dated 8th Dec but this version fails to open. I have reported this error and have supplied the log info file. One of the developers is looking into this problem. I found that if u run the standard vers of X11 and download the 30th Nov Dev vers you should be up and running in no time. I have found a few small problems, with the property windows malfunctioning. Besides this little blip, I really love where Inkscape is heading.
