I know that this question is really simple and all, but i was looking at the detail of this web interface ...

and i was wondering how i can reproduce some of the effects ...

1) the embossed horizontal bar, that's used under the 'beraten' in the navigation. that should be really easy but i can't seem to reproduce it ....

2) the banner has a spotty effect which i can't reproduce. i want to have a spotty filter over my banner ...

is the link correct? there is neither a 'beraten' in the artwork you link to, nor is there a banner. - if this is about the deviantart-banners, those change (did not see a 'spotty' one) - could you make a screenshot and post that, indicating the points you mean?

One can achieve that effect by stacking two 1px lines (one dark, one light) on top of each other. Might look funny zoomed up but it will look great applied to a webpage.
