I'm having a very odd problem - I'm trying to select Filters > Color > Lightness-Contrast. When I click on Lightness-Contrast, a dialogue boxes appears but disappears instantly. It's the same for all filters and is exceptionally annoying!
Any guidance would be appreciated. I've tried this on Win7 and WinXP, using version 0.48.
In the short term a keyboard shortcut to lighten/darken would be massively appreciated!
Thanks,
Alex

Re: Weird Problem - Dialogue Boxes Disappear Instantly
Yes, this is really annoying. I watched this natural phenomenon in Windows XP SP2 Inkspace 0.48.1.2.
In fact, this open-and-close of dialogue box is so quick..... I did not know until now, that there's even a dialog box.
I've always said: What stupid filters! You can't setup any filter's parameter. And now I hear, in fact there is a window, but very shy.
Shy greetings sends
Ponny

Did you see the indigo Pony, when he came from other side wall of the night?

Gosh, I don't know how I missed this message.
All those filters, in the Filters menu, are pre-installed. The little window that briefly appears, I don't think it's a dialog. I think, if you used a slower computer, it would say something like "so and so filter working, please wait". It does not allow you to tweak or customize the filter.
But there IS a way to do so! If you go down to the bottom of the Filters menu, you'll find the Filters Editor. There you can customize, tweak, or even build your own filters
