Hi all,
I have a problem in Inkscape with path outset.
I draw a rectangle with the tool, convert it a path and then press Ctrl ) a number of times until my rectangle is big enough. However, my rectangle does not stay rectangular, it gets sort of rounded corners and curved lines:
This is not the behaviour I expected. ANd it's not just with rectangles, it's with any shape I create using a path. I have browsed this forum for any reports about it, browsed the manual, but could not find anything.
Then I renamed the Inkscape preferences file (didn't want to delete it) and that solved it. So, it is something in my preferences, something that I might have done.
I really like to know what setting I might have changed that causes this, because I want all my other preferences back and I want to avoid getting in this situation again.

Re: problem with path outset
My experiments suggest the stroke style with rounded join for the base rectangle causes ever greater rounding for outsets, while squared joins keep almost perfectly square.

Thank you, Slow Dog, that indeed seems to be causing it. It never crossed my mind to look in that direction.
When I return to my "old" preferences file, join is indeed set to "Round join".
Thank you!
