Good morning Inkscaper,
I'm trying to blur the background of a window, aiming to this effect: http://jsfiddle.net/fillotassi/0ne51s6o/
I found this old thread (viewtopic.php?t=13303), but I can't make it using Image Source. It lets me apply the Gaussian Blur filter through Filter Editor, but Image Source isn't clickable.
Here's the file I'm actually editing: http://svgur.com/s/37C
Thanks in advance!

Re: Window with transparency and blurred background
Hi.
You need to use the background image as the input for the filter.
In the attached image it works fine.

Re: Window with transparency and blurred background
Thanks, now I understood how to link the Background Image to the Filter!

You are welcome!

Re: [solved] Window with transparency and blurred background
Thanks, 'll read it. I also found this: https://www.packtpub.com/books/content/ ... er-effects
However, can the filter be shaped? From the example we exchanged, it seems not.

Ok, great. It can be clipped!

Nice find!
Started my own "cookbook" before but got stuck a bit with it (lack of motivation, so to speak).
There are alot of things you can achieve by filtering.
Some examples: stormy waves, clouds, frost, wood textures, halftone effects, animations, etc.
My repository of custom svg filters is available here -they are in the public domain.
Not exactly sure what you are after, if you can elaborate I'll try to answer.
