hello out there
seems like I have an invisible layer with partially same (slightly moved) geometry
they are all on same layer but only visible in nodes mode...
how did that get there? why is it not visible in normal mode?? how can I get rid of it easily without individually selecting the nodes??
thanks for having a look
invisible layer????

Re: invisible layer????
It's hard to tell, from those small images, exactly what's happening. Could we look at the SVG file? I'm not sure if you can attach at file on this board (you can on Help with Inkscape board, for sure). Or you can use any other image host, like ImageShack, imgur, or DropBox, and give us a link. Then we can actually open it in Inkscape, and look for ourselves.
If that's not possible, try selecting this invisible layer with the Selection tool, and look at the status bar. It will tell you what kind of object it is, and that will be a clue where it came from. If it's grouped with something else, that will make it harder to know where it came from. But we could figure it out, if we have the SVG file.

Re: invisible layer????
As noted, the svg would be helpful.
That said... Looks like u have a set of paths with no fill or stroke. You can see them with Menu: View>Display Mode>Outlines. If you have the recent pre-release build, you select can one mystery object and use Menu: Edit>Select Same>Fill and Stroke.
Once selected, you can do whatever you like with them... fill, delete, move to another layer, etc.

I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Re: invisible layer????
It's easy enough to get clutter when experimenting.
I suggest viewing in outline and checking the status bar for consistency with your expectations of groups, objects, paths, etc.

Re: invisible layer????
That part in the red circle looks like the negative of a pattern unit....or at least part of a unit. Maybe you Differenced part of the pattern from another object?
As tylerdurden said, when you're just learning, and experimenting with many tools or features, it's easy to end up with....just all kinds of extra stuff that you didn't realize was happening. I can't remember what I was doing, but there was one time when I suddenly realized I had 70-something duplicates of 1 object! Fortunately it was rather small and simple, because 70-something copies of a large or complex object would probably have crashed Inkscape! I'm still not sure how it happened
