How to turn off line width in object size calculation

Postby monast » Tue Aug 28, 2012 2:14 am

Is there a way to turn off the line width calculation for objects (path/single line) sizes?
Object sizes is more important for me than line widths. Line width is only for display and not important for creating an object where I need precise size and position.

in your inkscape preferences (tools) you can specify whether Inkscape uses the geometric bounding box or the visual bounding box for some calculations.
To explain further, theo geometric bounding box contains the path within it but note the style, i.e. Stroke width.
The visual box includes the stroke inside the box.
Quick check: switch to the :tool_selector: If the transform arrows are anywhere overlapping your stroked object you are in geometric mode.

100% agree.
Even if visual/bounding can be (part of) a solution I can't wait for inkscape to implement svg2 stroke position this will fix the (in)famous blurry 1px bug.
This will be a time savior for (small) icon designer

Thank you very much. The option worked.

Yes, I, too, am wait for the turn-off option for anti-aliasing.
