Hi,
I am long term Inkscape user and have it on multiple PCs and OSes installed.
I have following problem with Inkscape. Even with relatively small file I see delay when I move text field or graphic elements. There are few seconds lags although the PC has enough memory and CPU and Inkscape normally tooks about 500 MB RAM and few % of CPU. When checking it in ksysguard it shows peaks up to 100% for some of the cores (see attached image).

My PC specs (system is 64bit Kubuntu Trusty Tahr):

Operating System : Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS

X11 Vendor : The X.Org Foundation

I never had such problems on my other machines including Windows 7 64bit with Phenom X4 and 4GB RAM (my office PC, use it also for editing large poster files in Inkscape - 50-90 MB each - in such case it is slower but not the same way) and 32bit Kubuntu laptop with i3 and 3GB RAM which I use also for working in Inkscape - especially when travelling.

We suspected OpenGL but update did not solve anything. Same with getting latest Intel Haswell drivers.
Inkscape version is Inkscape 0.48.4 r9939.

Have absolutely no idea what could be wrong.

Inkscape uses CPU, not GPU. Drivers won't help.

Try the latest development x64 build.

just tried inkscape-trunk_0.48.5+27~ubuntu14.04.1_amd64
from PPA https://launchpad.net/~inkscape.dev/+ar ... ntu/stable
and no difference.

However I found out that files without filters (blur etc.) are OK...
