Export to PDF large formats

Postby lmmalmeida » Mon Jan 21, 2013 9:46 am

Hello

I'm exporting a draw to pdf and it results on a blank file.

I use win7 and Inkscape 0.48.2 r9819.

The size of the page is very large 3000x6000mm, A smaler file results on a good exported pdf file.

Please help.

Thanks

Luís

Welcome Luis!

Well, it sounds like the evidence is pointing to the large dimensional size of the file, as the problem. I guess that points to finding a computer with more memory, one way or another. Rarely someone on the forum will offer to convert a single large file for someone, if they happen to have a big enough system. Or maybe you know someone who might try it for you?

You could try using File menu > Vacuum Defs, before starting the "export" (technically Save As). It probably won't help, but is so easy, you might as well try it. If you have any embedded raster images that are no longer needed, you could delete those as well. Still not likely to help in this case, but I honestly don't know what else to suggest.

Maybe someone else will have a better idea? :D

Out of curiosity, how many MB?

Thanks for the tips.

The file is very small, 16Kb, and it has only a few lines.

My computer has a core i7 and 6Gb of RAM.

When I print a Large format the pdf results on a blank file.

Thanks

Are you using Save As, or are you printing to PDF?

Yeah, someone else is going to have to figure this out. I tried Save As and also got a blank page. And I don't know what to look for, as far as troubleshooting. Maybe there is some size limit, although I've never heard of one. But I'm stumped :(

Hi.

Tested various page sizes.

Your file fails when the size exceeds 5.0 x 2.5m.
Anything less works OK.

However, If you open your PDF file in Inkscape you will see the file is not empty.

Problem seems to be the PDF reader - I am using Acrobat Reader X on Win7.
Have not yet tested with Linux, that will be the next step.
