Docking the swatch palette and a bug?

Postby dodgyb2001 » Wed Dec 30, 2009 3:23 am

Hi,
I'd like to dock the swatch palette alongside the Layers palette (those being the two I use most). However, when I close and reload inkscape, both palettes become hidden, and opening them again places them on top of one another. Also, the Swatch palette's width function doesn't seem to do anything, as the palette keeps 3 colours wide, no matter what I set Width to.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks!

Mike

Well, I was watching to see if someone else might post a reply, since I can't really give you any concrete info. But I'll share whatever I can.

First, it would be helpful to know which version of Inkscape you're using, and also your OS. It will enable others to test out your problem on similar systems.

It does sound like a bug to me. By "swatches palette", I assume you mean the color palette that lies immediately below the canvas? And I didn't even know it could be docked  . When I was looking it up in the tavmjong bah Guide (find it in the Help menu), I found this:
"There is still some work to be done on the implementation of dockable dialogs. For example, a few dialogs have yet to be converted to be dockable (e.g., Text, Object properties). Bugs may also be encountered."

If no one else replies here with a solution, or other information to the contrary, I would suggest reporting the bug at Launchpad. Please see this topic for info on reporting a bug:
