Sorry I am new to Inkscape, and the problem I am having is that after I save it doesn't let me move any of the objects in the drawing. It basically groups everything together and doesn't let me ungroup. Thanks for you time and help!

Hhmm, you'll need to give us some more info. What kind of objects are you drawing. Did you perform any path operations (booleans), such as Union? Did you use Path menu > Combine? Have you accidentally locked any objects or layers? Did you export to PNG? If you exported to PNG, the image is no longer a vector image, and the objects will not move independently.
