Half my background disappears...

Postby Jontydobbin » Sat Apr 02, 2016 2:10 am

Hi guys, I'm pretty new to Inkscape so apologies if this is basic, but I can't work it out and it's doing my head in!

I've created a really basic image, which is mostly really just an amalgamation of other images. One of the images is a background with discs on it. All looks fine on the vector, but once I save as png I lose half of this background - it only pulls halfway down the document. It sits behind a couple of other objects, both of which show up fine - it's just the background that cuts off halfway behind them for some reason. There is definitely no other object there interfering.

Would anyone have the slightest issue what the issue might be here?!!!

Many thanks,

J

Hi.

Sounds like a rendering issue. 0.91 has a new cairo renderer that can left out things in some cases.
Gradient fills with heavy distortion for example, but without looking at your file/knowing which version you use on which os it's hard to tell.

A general note to avoid save as png and use the export as png instead, where you can set the resolution of the rasterizing and it can keep the background's transparency.

Usually if you just do the export again, it should work. (Like Lazur said, File menu > Export PNG, and NOT Save As > PNG)

However, if this is a very large image, you maybe have to try a few times, before you get it all.
