win32 nightly build can not open linkedoffset with radius

Postby Sandthorn » Sat Apr 18, 2009 1:57 pm

Symtom:

(Inkscape21165-0904171530.7z)

Inkscape can not open files containing linkedoffset with inkscape:radius. After click open the file, the process uses up CPU time and stays not responding.

I have to move back to 0.46 which is much slower than nightly build.

Questions:
1. Is there anybody experience this?
2. Is this a bug?
3. Is there any workaround?

Thanks.

Did you try an earlier build?

The earliest build in the download page (Inkscape21024-0904010548.7z) doesn't open the linked offset either. I have no archive builds earlier than in the download page.

EarlyBlake, do you have symtoms like me? (try open my attachment--test.svg above with your build)

Sounds like it might be worth you logging a bug report for this on Launchpad. Or letting the developers know on the mailing list.

I've just found that if a linked offset with radius attached on something other than "text object," it's fine.

I tried this
1) Create a text object.
2) Convert to path.
3) Ungroup it.
4) Combine it into a single path.
5) Create Link Offset with radius 15.
6) Reopen file. It works.

So I tried this,
1) Create a text object
2) Create Link Offset with radius 0
3) Reopen. It works.
4) Create Link Offset with radius 15 on previous Link Offset
5) Reopen. It crashes.

I guess the problem occurs

"only when a linked offset with radius is able to be traced back to a text object."

Sandthorn
