I'm putting together some figures for my thesis and keep encountering the same problem. I process SVG images exported from various analysis software. The processing usually involves annotation and resizing that doesn't preserve the original aspect ratio. The final figures look fine in Inkscape, but when I export them as PDF, EPS, PNG etc, the lines get distorted, ie stretched out with uneven stroke width across their length. The distortion doesn't happen if the aspect ratio is preserved. I'm on OS X 10.7 with Inkscape 0.48
How can this be solved?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Distortion after image export
Hi.
Check in the inkscape preferences (Shift+Ctrl+P), and make sure you set optimised in the transformation tab and restart.
Good luck with the project!

Re: Distortion after image export
Thank you for such a prompt reply. I have just upgraded my Inkscape to 0.48.5 and this alone seems to have solved the problem. I will, however, set the transformation to optimised as you recommended. Thank you.
