Problem printing Landscape orientation?

Postby tatankam » Mon Mar 08, 2010 11:39 pm

Hallo,
I see that if I have a document with size < 26mm. x 26mm.
It seems that Inkscape understand as if the document size is 297mm. x 210mm.

Is this a bug?
Is there a document size limit in some initialization file?

Thanks.

Mario

For your information, I see that the prblem is when document size is < 1 inch
How could I resolve it?

How did you change the document size? You have to go to Document Properties, select mm as Units under Custom size and insert 26 into width and height boxes to the left. I haven't noticed any problems.

Just a tip: you might also want to change the default units through out the document in the top right corner of the Document properties window if you only want to deal with mm and not pixels.

I changed from Document Properties, but the problem is with a size less of 26mm x 26 mm
The problem is with size less of 1 inch

Did you try with, for example a size of 15mm x 15mm ?

Thanks, Mario

Ok, the problem seems to be the document size of inkscape less of the media size of the driver.

Now I have the problem that some parts of the document isn't printed.

I don't know what to do.

I'm unclear as to what the problem is, so it's hard to help. Could you tell us what it is you're trying to do, and we might be able to suggest a way to do it?

I have an .svg document of dimensions : width=13mm height=32mm

The paper size of the label, is width=32mm and height=13mm

When I print, I select from the driver, "Landscape" orientation, but I obtian that it is printed only some information.
If I print with "Portrait" orientation, it is printed vertically on more labels.
So I am not able to print correctly.

I tried to change the .svg document to width=32mm height=13mm (and rotate the draw of 90*) so inkscape automatically select "Landscape" as orientation, and so I can print with orientation Portait with the same label paper size 32x13 but I obtain the same results: it is printed only partially.

It seems that there are problems about Landscape and Portrait orientation.

I hope that you understand my explanation...

thanks for your help.

Perhaps you should give up trying to print it directly. Instead, you could export a PNG file of sufficiently high resolution, and print the PNG using some other software.

Hallo.

For me it is a problem to give up to print directly, because I can't export all our files.

We print correctly and directly other svg files with portrait orientation of the .svg file ( width=40 mm , height=80 mm) and paper size of the same orientation.
So the problem seems to be on landscape orientation, I suppose and/or the small size of the document.

Well, I really don't have much to contribute. But...
There's another member who has been posting in the Inkscape and Cutters forum. Her issue is that if she changes the orientation of her artwork, the machine won't cut. I don't know enough to determine whether it's an issue with Inkscape or with the machine. And I think she's still waiting for an answer to that particular issue. Also, her images are not nearly that small.

So as I said, I don't have a solution for you. But maybe there's something there?
