Hi Guys,
Before I register a bug on launchpad, would you guys help me dig up some info so it would be a useful bug report.
When I start, open, or save a document, it freezes for 46 seconds.
For example when starting up it says in the title Bar: "New document 1 - Inkscape (Not Responding)".
CPU usage for the Inkscape process is 0% while it freezes.
I am using Windows 10, and Inkscape 0.92.3.
I have tried uninstalling it, restarting, and then re-installing it (twice), did not help.
I uninstalled my anti-virus, did not help.
Is there any log or something I could check to see what it is doing for 46 seconds?
I am currently working with quite a few files, and spend a lot of my time watching the cursor go round and around.

I use Inkscape on Linux, but I sometimes see long timeouts when starting it if I've connected my machine to a network share that I haven't used in a while. I'm guessing that something in Inkscape's startup code (or the libraries it uses) is enumerating the drives, so it is delayed whilst waiting for the network shares to "wake up" again.
Are you using any network drives? Does the behaviour of Inkscape change if you make a point of accessing the network drives before you launch the program?

I currently do not have any network drives attached.
In windows explorer if I go to This PC-> Map network Drive -> disconnect network drive, there are no network drives.
I have a NAS drive I connect about one every 2 weeks to back up to, but I manually control the IP address for that, and do not have any stored links or mappings to it, it is not mapped as a drive. I tested with the drive connected and disconnected, and Inkscape has the same freezing behavior.
I noticed this problem I think started to happen after I uninstalled some fonts. I have followed a bunch of tutorials to rebuilt font caches and delete "ghost fonts", but none of them helped with the inkscape freezing.

Any recommendations on how to proceed? Trying to make a website, and the tweaking, check, tweaking check, is taking so long.
Can I report a bug if its not reproducible on other machines?

You could ask for help in IRC / on the user mailing list first. But as you say it's related to fonts, it might be worth getting a developer on board.

I tried running it from the command line (quite a while ago, using the command inkscape.com or something similar), but no debug is ever output from when it starts, including when it hangs.

Is it a large file? If so, how much RAM on your system? Or are you opening a new blank file?
It seems like uninstalling fonts would make it start faster, instead of slower. So that part is curious.
The only way I know to try and find out what's happening on your system is with either the Task Manager (on Windows - I don't know what it's called on Linux or Mac). Or else there's Process Explorer which is like Task Manager on steroids!
If it's a large file, that probably explains the delay. But if it's either a small file or a new blank file, I would concur with contacting developers. Not many developers visit forums (at all) so you have to go to them. The devel mailing list is probably the best place, but there's also a dev IRC. It with happens with small files of a few kb, or large files. I have 16GB RAM.
Process manager shows while it freezes: 0% CPU usage, RAM usage remains the same, and the network usage is 0%.

Hi, I have exactly the same error. 50sec freeze, then I can access/save the files. CPU at 0% while loading, "not responding" message appears while loading or saving. Also Inkscape has this issue whenever I open/save a blank document.

Is there a 'recent files' list on Windows somewhere? I suppose there's something in it that cannot be reached, like an external or remote drive.
