tspan with x and y attributes inverted.

Postby jjavier » Sat Feb 13, 2016 3:49 am

Hi everybody.
I'm new to the forum and I'm not sure if I should post this here.
Any guidance in this regard is welcome.

I created one .svg with some top-down text and all was fine and dandy until I tried to open the same file with a browser.
The text with top-down flow was render misplaced.
I tried to solve it from the GUI but nothing I did helped.

Then I open the .svg file as an .xml file and find out the misplaced text is surrounded by an <text> tag and <tspan> tag.
The x and y attributes were OK for the text tag, but were inverted at tspan tag.

When I correct manually the x and y attributes for tspan, my graphic was rendered correctly by inkscape and by my browsers.

Can anybody tell me if this is expected behavior or a known issue?
Should I report this as a bug?

Hi jjavier,

it may be that this issue is already resolved in the developer version, as there has been a *lot* of work done on text.

If you feel adventurous, you could install the devel version on your system to see if the issue persists (available on the Download page at inkscape.org). Else, you can make a file that contains the kind of text you mean and tell us which steps you took to create it, and one of us using the devel version can test for you.

Or you can browse the bug reports first, to see if you can find a corresponding report.
