Haven't been drawing much lately - except for maps. This is my current WIP:
Using the calligraphy tool for mountains works prett well, in my opinion.

You can view the planet in Google Earth here: http://files.pandemonium.de/thraeton/thraeton.kml
Anyway, a lot of work remains to be done.

Re: Map
I really like this piece
I downloaded the map for Google Earth and I was pleasantly surprised to notice that you named that one island Lincoln Island. Jules Verne fan? Or simply chose the name because of Abe?

Re: Map
Thanks! - Jules Verne. I even tried to give it a roughly similar shape to the island from the book
Anyway, here's a sample from the current "done" version. (more or less.)

Re: Map
About maps.
I created some compasses (north symbols) for maps.
You can check them here right:

SVG and PNG.
You can use them on your work because they're free.

Thanks, they look great but they're GPL and I do not wish to GPL my graphics.

Re: Map
Nice work on the map!
I'd suggest you check out www.cartographersguild.com for a group of fantasy/alternate earth/other mapping enthusiasts. There are a few users there who use inkscape, and having more (or even some tutorials or tips) would be nice.
