0.48 version versus 0.46

Postby wolfingtonj » Sat Sep 11, 2010 3:57 am

Hello,

I am new to inkspace. I downloaded version 0.48 yesterday after viewing some tutorials. I watched a tutorial that was showing you how to use the Dynamic Offset feature. If I use the "create stars and polygons" and then choose "dynamic offset", I get the diamond shape to make my image bigger. If I use the "create and edit text objects" and create my own word I do not get the diamond shape to allow me to make the object bigger. Version 046 does allow me to create my own text and use the dynamic offset feature.

Does 0.48 not allow this or did I do something wrong with my download. I do not want to use 0.46 because it does not have the new "envelope deformation" feature like 0.47 and 0.48 has. I tried finding a downoad version for 0.47 but cannot find it.

Hoping someone has some answers for me and can help.

Thanks

I can set Dynamic Offset on text objects but not on flowed text. Did you use flowed text instead of normal text?

Flowed text is a very special kind that can't be edited as normal text can. Convert your object to normal text and try the offset again.

Normal text is created by clicking on canvas with the Text tool, and flowed by click and drag ;)

That is probably it but since I am new at this and really do not know how to use the soft ware yet (still learning) how do I make sure it is normal text. What do I need to click on.

I figured it out. Thanks so much. I thought I was losing my mind.
