Normally I've been able to find the solution to my issues by searching the forums or bug repository but no luck this time so thought I should register and ask .
I'm running Win7, Inkscape 0.48 r10040
Issue I'm trying to use the RAF font located here
http://www.simmerspaintshop.com/forums/ ... 641ath-75/
It's installed okay and I can
Use the font in Word correctly
Use the font In LibreOffice correctly
In GIMP I can see the font and select it but it's not picking up the character set ie I'm getting a generic character set.
In Inkscape I can't see the font listed at all.
I honestly don't know that much about fonts or how they are configured or the behind the scenes elements of GIMP/Inkscape . Is there a commonly shared component that both apps use in regards to fonts that could cause the error? or is this a case of badly created font file?
I have noted a few things about the font
It contains underscores in the human name, title and font family names.
If I try to remove the underscores in font-factory the font drops to the same generic characterset that gimp displays when I export it as a TTF and then install it as a new font - this could be caused by my lack of understanding of fonts or because fontfactory again uses the same components as Inkscape/GIMP?
I don't wish to raise a bug report for Inkscape if it's a generic module/library causing the problems (a few minutes of research on google maybe Pango?)
Any help or advice much appreciated or even confirmation the bug is not just my machine would be great
Font Display - Underscore in name causing issue?
Re: Font Display - Underscore in name causing issue?
Inkscape seems to be quite selective about fonts. I'm not sure it would be called a bug....maybe so, I don't have any technical knowledge about that.
It's clearly installed correctly on your machine. Unfortunately, the only solution is to find a better quality font. But the good news is that there are TONS of fonts to be found on the internet. Surely you'll be able to find a similar font.

Re: Font Display - Underscore in name causing issue?
I concur.... that version/font seems broken. My Font viewer won't open it and it doesnt open in my version of GIMP or Inkscape.
Have a nice day.
I'm using Inkscape 0.92.2 (5c3e80d, 2017-08-06), 64 bit win8.1
The Inkscape manual has lots of helpful info! http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/

Cool - Thanks for checking both, glad it's not just me .
I'll have a hunt around and see if I can dig up something similar
