Another problem.
I've got a bit mapped graphic that is very rough. I went in with a bit map program & did a lot of cleaning up just to get a reasonable edge to follow. I can't trace it because it is too rough for that - I tried all sorts of settings without success.
I followed the bezier tute & then I went in & used the bezier curve pen tool to trace the outline. I used successive straight line segments because I found that FAR easier than the curves - really found it hard to get a smooth curve by playing with the curve handles.
I now find that a couple of places where I thought I was continuing the curve, it actually isn't. It is actually another curve starting at that place so there is an end node for two curves on the same point or close to the same point. You can't see it unless you try to move the curve node at that point.
Is there any way to join two curves?
Is there any easy way to find where these errors have occurred - if I try to do a colour fill it will leak out won't it?
Alternatively, since the graphic is just all one colour, should I just cut the curve up into segments & colour fill them in a few different layers?
Thanks again,
Brian

Yes. You need to first "Combine" the paths (Ctrl + K) so they are one object instead of multiple. Then you can join the nodes.

Hmmm... before combining them, if you press Ctrl + A to select all objects you'll see a dashed box around each object. After they are combined it won't be so easy to find the gaps. So you might like to combine the the paths one at a time and join the nodes as you combine them.

Probably not. The fill tool doesn't recognise paths so if it doesn't see a gap it won't be a problem. If there are visible gaps, you can change the "Close gaps" option on the tool control bar. Think of this feature like it makes the paint too thick to pass through gaps. Read more details on how to use

How you use layers is totally up to you. I recommend just playing and finding out for yourself how to best manage your drawing. There is no right or wrong way for how you break up a drawing into layers.
