I'm just doing a very simple project but I'm a total newb. Inkscape is so very powerful but that means lots of features to find. I've been doing the tutes as well but can't seem to find the answer.
I'm just doing a cover for a Material Safety Data Sheet folder. It has the whole area cross hatched except for a clear Central Diamond section with a solid border with MSDS in Vertical Format & a rectangular box below with the wording Material Safety Data Sheet.
I worked out setting the guide lines & doing the square box with a border although for some reason on the screen the corners did not quite seem to be in line - perhaps it was just the screen.
The cross hatch lines are done by tiling I guess or cloning - please excuse if I haven't got the terminology correct yet.
The problem is aligning the vertical MSDS text exactly over the centre of the square. I'm not sure how to get the text box exactly centrally aligned.
I suppose if I change the text size then I'll have to re-centre it too?
Thank you,
Brian
Aligning Vertical Text
Re: Aligning Vertical Text
I'm not sure if you can vertically centre text within it's container--check the Inkscape Guide if you want to know for sure. Otherwise, you can always use the Alignment and distribution palette (Ctrl + Shift + A) to quickly and easily align the text object over the square. But as you suggested, if you change the font size you will need to align it again.
