Has there already been discussion of a feature in Inkscape which would allow to view only the canvas (like Fullscreen but also hiding all windows, menus etc, only show the drawing itself)?
Just to see the final result without clutter, from time to time, then go back to drawing.
Or does it exist already?

Inkscape comes with it's own viewer - inkview.exe (on windows platform)

To view fullscreen I do:

Save the file, lets say I called it "Example_1.svg"

open a command window, Start - Run - cmd.exe

In the command window type inkview "C:\Ragnar\Documents\Inkscape\Example_1.svg"

I seem to remember that the developers voted down the "direct fullscreen view" to avoid users entering this mode by "accident" and not knowing the "way back".

Already exists. Try Shift+F11 - a toggle to hide all GUI parts, including the menubar; toggle setting works separately for normal view and for full-screen view (F11). Use F12 to hide/show the main dock (the container for docked dialogs on the right side).

OK, interesting, didn't know that, thanks. It comes close (enough) to what I had in mind.
I was actually thinking of one button that toggles normal view <> "complete full-screen" (like YouTube's fullscreen for instance, where you would only see the drawing and nothing else (not even Windows/Linux taskbars etc).
Would I be the only one interested in that?

The command "inkview" is unknown on my Windows install (can't test Linux right now)...
Concerning the way back out of fullscreen, I think it has become rather mainstream now, no? Usually "escape" does the trick, or F12)? Plus one can always keep a note active in a corner that says "return to normal view"... But maybe I'm overestimating the "normal" user?
