Hello scapers
I recently installed inkscape on my xubuntu 14.04 LTS and it seems to be buggy when I want to generate guides. The guides don't fit on the page like you can see on the attached picture.
Is the problem between chair & keyboard or is my inkscape version is buggy ?
Thanks for your help and be kind on my rusty "schooly" english

Re: Inkscape 0.91 : guides generator problem
Your page is zoomed to 12%. Try switching to 100%. Or maybe you just zoomed out, to find the guides?
And your guides appear to be approx 375 units apart. It's not clear what kind of units. So that makes it not clear what size your page is. Maybe they are mm, and if so, that means your page size must be pretty tiny. In File menu > Document Properties, you can find what size the page is, as well as set to your desired size.
Is that a development version of Inkscape? I see some tool icons that I don't recognize.
Also, you don't have to use the Guides extension, to create guides. You can, if you need that kind of feature. But for just a guide here and there, you can just drag them out of the rulers. Highlight and double-click to position precisely.

You apparently chose to install unstable trunk (Inkscape 0.91+devel) [1] - I would recommend to instead install the stable release version (Inkscape 0.91) which is also available via PPA from inkscape.
Current trunk (Inkscape 0.91+devel) has internal changes which aren't fully resolved in all areas (it's the development branch, after all), as well as differently formatted default templates, which - in combination - may affect extensions like the Guides creator (the extension likely will need to be adapted for future release Inkscape 0.92). With current 0.91+devel builds, you can work around this problem for now by using new documents created based e.g. on the 'default px' template (in case you do not want to revert to the latest stable release for whatever reason).
[1] the toolbox includes for example the button for the mesh gradient tool, which is only available (i.e. enabled by default) in recent unstable trunk builds (0.91+devel).

#brynn thanks for your reply
Even if I zoom @100% or @12%, it's the same result.
You spot the 375 units, it's smart ; I guessed that the toolbox for generating guides regarding the type of unit used for the main page - I hope you understand :/
#suv & brynn
Yes, it's the devel version, maybe it's the point. Let me uninstall and put the version of the main PPA, I will try again with the guides tool.

Re: Inkscape 0.91 : guides generator problem
That's it ! I return to stable release and the result is good
I assume I totaly forgot it was the trunk release
About using the guides tool, it's a usefull little tool to perfectly create identical box on a page. I routinely use it
Thanks for help ! Have a good sunny day
