The Making of a Mummy Pumpkin SVG

Postby agirlnamedterelle » Sat Oct 06, 2018 1:48 pm

I'm new to Inkscape and I'm struggling to find an easier way to achieve the effect that I envisioned. I'm trying to make a mummy pumpkin svg. I would like to add "bandages" to the image of a pumpkin. Is there a way that I can make the bandages conform to the shape of the pumpkin? The only way that I've found is by adding the envelope distortion path effect, and since I'm still new to the program, I'm struggling to get it right. Help will be much appreciated. Thank you! :)

Well, my personal style would be to use node editing. If you started with rectangles, do Path menu > Object to Path, and then switch to the Node tool. Although I know that many people like to avoid node editing whenever possible. Possibly some path operations (Path menu > Intersection or Difference or others) might help as well....I'm not sure exactly what you're doing.

Envelope Deform is not a bad way to go, either.

If you can show us your SVG file, we can see how you've started with the bandages, and I suspect that you'll get some replies with different ways to accomplish your goal. I don't have time to attempt drawing the whole thing, right now, but I could show some quick edits to yours. If you like :D

Bend LPE could work, too.
