I imported a PNG image into Inkscape 0.46. I wanted to fade a portion of it to transparent to reveal a layer underneath.
Although Inkscape shows the Fill and Stroke dialog, and lets me specify and edit a gradient on the object, it doesn't seem to work.
Are gradients on imported images not supported, even though the interface gives every indication that it is supported?
Or am I missing something simple?
Thanks,
-Ken

Re: Gradient on Imported PNG?
You can change the transparency of part of a png by masking it. Mask is under the object menu. A png is a kind of bit map not a vector so inkscape looks at it as an object, so fill and stroke don't work on it.
