Okay, So I'm really into music, and I enjoy making cover art for albums and stuff. I like using vector logo's on my covers. Anyhow, there's a picture of these colorful squares that I'm trying to trace so that the quality is lossless, however it's not coming out the way I want. It's a very colorful picture, so It needs alot of scans done. But I need to figure out how to un-blur the edges because everytime I vectorize it, it comes out blurry. Please someone help!
Here's the pic I'm trying to vectorize:
Vector tracing help?
Re: Vector tracing help?
You won't get it perfect with a trace. Tracing won't figure out that the fill should be a gradient.
Using Inkscape, I recommend creating the image from scratch. It'll be a good learning project and you should be able to produce an identical copy. You'll need to read up on tiling - http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/Tiles.html

Re: Vector tracing help?
I think I would use Interpolate -- either the extension or LPE should work

Re: Vector tracing help?
IMHO neither 'Tiled clones' nor the extension 'Interpolate' can be used easily to recreate this example - the spacing (and rotation) are uneven and don't seem to follow a recognizable pattern (yes, I did try). It was faster to draw, scale (and rotate) the 16 rectangles manually, put the grey and colored ones on separate layers, and use a layer blend mode ('Screen') for the layer with the colored rectangles (stroked with a red-to-yellow gradient).
