I think it would be interesting to see what peoples first Inkscape drawing was. So post them here.

This is mine:

The original drawing was by King Cheetah, I simply inked and coloured his pencils.

Until this drawing, my previous work was created using Illustrator. I actually started this drawing in Illustrator to begin with, but then switched to Inkscape after not too long and found Inkscape to be far easier to work with. Although, at this point I hadn't grasped how to work with clips and I found gradients clumsy to define but I immediately loved how a gradient could so easily be reused and you could use transparency with them. It was also a real treat to so easily create a starry using "Create Tiled Clones".

Hmmmm, first drawing huh? Think the first images I created were the english roadsigns that are in OCAL, first thing where I was being vaguely artistic, is probably this:

Nice. I've only just started toying with using Inkscape for web design. I think it works quite well for quick results. When we get blend modes it will be fantastic.

nowhere near as good as the others, but this is my first drawing outside of shiny orbs and the like.

Hey Ryan..

Yes that was done in InkScape. There is a tutorial I found following Micro's "Tuts on YouTube" link about photo's popping out or something.

Here's the basics.

Import the image
object > Pattern > Object to pattern
Then you can toss the imported one.
I created a rectangle and then
Fill and Stroke > Pattern

This will tile the image on the rectangle, simply crop it to size. Remember to crop it for the perspective of your pop out.
Then draw out with the bezier tool an area around the subject popping out and Path > Union
Add nodes and move them around the object.

I am sure I've missed some steps, I could try to find that tut again if someone else doesn't find it before me.

Nice tutorial. I didn't know you could drag and drop images into Inkscape. I didn't think it would work since you can't copy and paste, yet.

Um, first, amazing inking skills. I do believe *you* should make a tutorial on the best methods, and ins-and-outs of inking.

I do have one small question though. Her um, *ahem* mons pubis is decorated, yet she is missing portions of her breasts.

Was this as King Cheetah created it, or... ?

The link is there for King Cheetah's original pencils if you want to compare. But to clarify, I added the pubic hair because her dress was obviously meant to be see through (from the pencils) and it seemed strange not to see something. As for her breasts, if you're suggesting she's missing nipples it would be because they are hidden by her bra.

I would like to do a tutorial, but I wouldn't know how. My own methods involve so much trial and error I can't really define rules. But I have posted snapshots of the work in progress that I think reveals some of the method.

Ah, OK. I've checked his drawings and see the opacity in the skirt region.

And actually no, I was referring to the fact she is missing a large portion of her left breast.

And I see now why you chose King Cheetah's works. I love "furries." I forgot the other word for those anthropomorphic characters.

Anyway, I have began outlining one last night to see if I'd like to have a go, and sure enough, I'm having a go. I'm doing "Goldie."
